Los Angeles, CA: The City of Los Angeles Hollywood BusinessSource, Hollywood WorkSource, and Los Angeles City College welcome co-host Senate Pro Tem Elect Kevin De León at a Business and Career Expo this Thursday, July 24th at 10:00 am at the LACC Student Union. A special session on Youth Entrepreneurship will present resources specific to young and emerging entrepreneurs.
The Expo is part of the City of Los Angeles’ newly designed workforce and economic development strategy that integrates resources for entrepreneurs, small business owners, and job seekers in order to effect positive economic growth throughout LA. In addition to Senator De León, distinguished guests include Jan Perry, General Manager of the City of Los Angeles Economic and Workforce Development Department and Renée D. Martinez, President of Los Angeles City College.
Over 200 attendees are expected to take advantage of training sessions and one-on-one consulting with service providers, financial institutions, and procurement specialists. These include City of LA Self-Employment Training, MCS BusinessSource Network, PACE Women’s Business Center, Small Business Development Center at Long Beach City College, US Small Business Administration, IRS, Social Security Administration, Veterans Administration, as well as banks and private/public contractors. In addition, local employers with available opportunities will be in attendance.
About: The Hollywood BusinessSource is funded by the City of Los Angeles to provide comprehensive business assistance services to entrepreneurs and business owners in Los Angeles. Specialties include training services as well as access to capital consulting, focused upon commercial capital, venture capital, and microloans. In 2013-14, approximately 200 entrepreneurs and business owners received free assistance, with $3.7 million in commercial capital realized in small business loans.
