Harbor YouthSource Center provides comprehensive employment and training services for youth ages 14-24 throughout the San Pedro and Harbor areas. Our primary focus is out-of-school youth; drop-out youth; in-school youth and jobless youth. Our services ensure that young people that have barriers to employment or education get the skills and education that is required to enter the workforce based on the Labor market economy, including the demand sector and emerging industries.

Harbor YouthSource Center offers employment and education services for youth ages 14-24 throughout the San Pedro and Harbor areas who are looking for career guidance, vocational training, paid work experience or employment opportunities.

We have a LAUSD Pupil and Attendance Counselor on staff that offers alternative High School Services. For out-of-school youth (OSY) without a High School diploma we offer several options to obtain their HS diploma (return back to traditional school, continuation school, charter school, or online options).

Youth can receive career readiness services, such as how to write a resume, conduct a job interview, and create a personal budget. Mentors encourage participants to sign up for the annual HIRE LA’s Youth program that provides six weeks of subsidized work. The HIRE LA program, a partnership of the City and County of Los Angeles along with participating employers, provides real-work experience, creates networking opportunities, and prepares youth for the discipline of college and career. Youths obtain 20 to 40 hours of paid work readiness training and 100 to 120 hours of paid work experience. We also offer help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) and occupational skills training. We look for local businesses or community-based organizations and reach out to them to become worksites where youth can gain work experience in different industries.
